The number of ruby throat hummingbirds has decreased markedly form the previous week, when we had two dozen birds around our four feeders simultaneously. Currently about a dozen birds are frequenting the feeders. Since we live within yards of a nature preserve forest, it is not possible if we are seeing the same dozen birds, or if there are more hummingbirds in the trees, but only a dozen or so are feeding at any one time. Apparently, however, a large number of the birds have continues their migration, with only a smaller contingent - or possibly the a tail-end group of the migration - remaining in the area.
