Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/14/2015

Number: 6

The ruby-throat hummers have been so very active in our neighborhood for the past few weeks, since about the third of September. We have had around four to seven or eight each day. This includes older and younger males as well as females. It has appeared as if they will stay a few days and move on and a new group appears. Between my neighbors' feeders and my five feeders, we have plenty for these cute but feisty birds to eat. I also have a fire bush, lavender butterfly bush, red bat-face cuphia Mexican petunias, red salvia and lantana in my yard that they compete for. We have been experiencing a lot of northwesterly and easterly winds during this time that have both brought them here.
