Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/26/2015

Number: 3

Hummingbirds were on our feeders as soon as there was enough light to fly. Temperatures were in the mid-50's, so I had pre-warmed them. The winds have been from the south, and the sky is clear. I saw a hummingbird trying to drink from a mandevilla, but it may have been too deep. Despite trying all the recommendations for distracting or blocking honeybees, we seem to have most of the population of two nearby hives emptying the feeders. There's less competition at the Lantana and tropical milkweed, so the hummingbirds are spending more time on those.
