This is a Monarch I saw earlier last week, I thought it had a damaged wing and was an old one, But I finally got a good look at it on 9/23. It appears to be a newly hatched butterfly with a upper wing that has not fully opened. It did fly ok and was on the milkweed flowers as they are one of the few flowers out this time of year. I hope it has safe travels south.
