Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/27/2015

Number: 1

One tiny female guest by a feeder on the south side of our house. She appeared at 7:15 AM, perched, preened, rested, and consumed nectar until 10:30 AM. I have not seen her this afternoon, and assume she proceeded on her long journey south. In Michigan it's been about 10 degrees warmer, every day this week than average. Tomorrow is projected to be 80 degrees with showers / some sunshine-then our weather will be returning to "average fall temperatures." This is the first year (in 22 years) that we've had a hummingbird guest on September 27th. Last year the "last seen date " was September 26th. There are 18 feeders in the habitat--I will continue to clean and fill for the next 2 weeks in case any "Tardy Bird" needs our help.
