Plainview Texas has a new registered Monarch Habitat--my garden! I have been in love with monarchs and their migration story for several years now, and more so after discovering Chip Taylor's Kansas University monarch website.
I have learned a lot about purposely assisting monarchs grow from eggs to beautiful adults outdoors and indoors (when necessary to protect them from Spring freezes!)
I am trying to grow more "native to my area" milkweed, but grow tropical mw from seed every winter indoors and plant it outdoors for migrating beauties! The mw species native around here isn't very mature when the first monarchs fly through.
Wild sunflowers are alliwed to grow in my garden (after extreme thinning out) since the beauties love them!
