much to my delight and surprise i happened to look up just at the right moment to see a monarch enter the white pine in our back yard to roost for the night.
it was at 5:25 and the sun was out. this tree has been used in the past.
did not see it leave this morning, but it was cold (38 degrees) and i left early.
also i saw (for the first time) a red admiral flying south (very fast) at 4:21.
it was a day graced with butterflies. lots of sulphurs too.
