Monarch, Captive-Reared

Date: 09/30/2015

Number: 1

Mr. Paulton's grade 4 class watched their male Monarch emerge on the 29th, however it was cool and raining so they left him in the classroom. Unfortunately, they forgot to close the cage so the custodian got a fright while sweeping when something on the floor moved. Fortunately the custodians knew that Mrs. Dufour-Rickeard was also raising Monarchs and they transferred him to one of her containers with some nectar solution in it. He spent the day safe and sound. At the end of the school day Ben released him. Sunny, 15C, strong northeast wind. He flew southwest over the school.
