De-heading Mexican Sunflowers at 1 pm. Spotted 1 female Ruby-Throat feeding high up on the Sunflowers. I continued to work on Sunflowers and heard her vocals. She was high up hovering high near the Oak Trees and then perched on one. I guess waiting for me to finish & go into house. Weather is Overcast, slight rain, 73.8 Degrees (It is usually around 80-85 degrees). So the Temp. drop may send them on South soon.
NOTE:Night of 09/29 I had said on that report we only had 1 left but I still would have thought it if I had not but watching feeder. One larger female Ruby-Throat came from backyard to feeder for a quick drink and flew back to area she came from. Just a few seconds later another much smaller female(probably Juvenile) came from top of house to drink between 12-15 sips. I never did see the larger one that night. I am guessing the larger one was either the mother or a visitor from another area. She seemed to try to be avoiding the smaller one. The smaller one came every 10 mins. to feeder and then every 5 mins. to fill up & continued the patterned until it got dark.
