At about 7:15 p.m. I saw a huge number of Monarchs roosting in a variety of trees on the University of Nebraska-Kearney campus in Kearney, Nebraska. There were thousands covering whole trees - 10,000 might be a low count. New arrivals kept coming while I was there. This was just ahead of a cold front coming from the north (the wind changed from the south to the north overnight with a small amount of rain with it). I did not have an opportunity to re-visit the area the next day.
