Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/29/2015

Number: 22

All in the same patch of butterflyweed, I found 13 on the 29th, another 6 on the 30th, then 2 more Oct. 1 - pretty much all the same size. I have brought them all in because the nights have been down in the 40's. Then today, Oct. 2, after I had brought in some of the butterfly weed to feed them, a little 3-4 day old caterpillar crawled off of one of the leaves!

I'm running out of good milkweed to feed them, so I'm going to start searching surrounding patches for more. Friends of mine are leaving for Florida Oct. 13, and have said they were transport them there while they are in their chrysalis'. I don't know which is better, letting them go here (Illinois) or in Florida?
