Early in the morning, I saw the super-fattened-up female ruby throat hummer feeding at the window feeder. I saw her 2-3 times in a row, and then didn't see her anymore. Guess she took the plunge and headed south. Safe trip, little girl!

For the past several years, the last hummingbird has left on October 1, regardless of the actual calendar days.
