Reported seeing 6 caterpillars on Sept 23 and 1 chrysalis. This is the crysalis that emerged on Sept. 28 I first saw it on Sept. 14th. Have been watching every day since. The chrysalis turend black and I was able to see the colourful wings and antennae that morning. When I checked back a couple of hours later, there appeared the butterfly, still and beautiful. After about a half hour of watching it flapped its wings for the first time. Watched as long as possible, left the house for almost 3 hours. Monarch was gone and has not been seen on my property since. My first full cycle experience - awesome.
