Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/02/2015

Number: 2

Two southward bound late season travelers just seconds apart from each other, drinking from each of the two remaining feeders I just had refilled fresh. Both females, the first a bit on the small side and the second very plump. After drinking for quite some time the first female flew off in a southward direction, while the second female made a half circle flight westward toward my hedge row of fifteen foot Giant Green Arborvitae, in which often our regulars could be found roosting in at night. Not sure if that was the case though, but didn't see her rising over them or going around them. Those two sightings were at 7:11pm and 7;12pm EST respectively. No further sightings were observed up till dark of night. Temperature was 55 degrees at the time, with 5-7 mph winds, 75% humidity and expected lows for tonight of 41 degrees. rain is predicted for tomorrow with temperature suppose to be a high of just 56 degrees. That makes for a total of three south bound travels today alone, 8 days after our last regular summer hummers resident departed. So glad I always leave some continually refreshed feeders hanging after our regular crew leaves. See you all next season .... unless another late arrival shows up.
