Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 10/06/2015

Number: 1

A museum volunteer Barbara Howell and I saw a female or juvenile ruby-throated hummingbird nectaring on Lady-in-Red Salvia in the Virginia Living Museum's Children's Learning Garden this morning around 11 am. It tried every blossom available, perched on a sunflower briefly, then took off over the roof of the Wason Education Center heading towards the north. Winds were brisk out of the north, it was partly cloudy, 60s.
