Yesterday there were 2 adult monarchs on my butterfly bush. One was worn with a hole or two in his wing. The other one was in much better shape overall. Today I was amazed! There are 5 crisp fresh looking male monarchs on the butterfly bush and hanging from my hummingbird feeders. I got out my compass to see where south -southwest was and sure enough it was the direction that they would head on short flights then turn and come back to the bush. In two days we had 7 which is a record for us. I hope this is a harbinger to better numbers in the sanctuaries this season.
