Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/09/2015

Number: 5

With a shift of the winds, five monarchs flew in my yard in Chandler, AZ this morning. Wish I had my camera to shoot several feeding at one time! All seem to be migrators from their behavior and most are spending the day feeding. Duranta flowers were the favorite nectar but they visited maxmillian sunflowers, and others as well. Reports are trickling in of monarch sightings all around the greater Phoenix area. Now the sightings are monarchs that are fresh and new versus the few earlier reports of worn, egg-laying monarchs and larvae during the last 30 days.
