Between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM I counted at least 25 monarch butterflies on my 36-acre property, and on adjoining properties. Those I observed in our yard, closest to the house, were attracted to the yellow rabbit brush, wild purple liatris, purple Russian sage, and purple asters that we grow specifically for pollinators. Up to five butterflies resting on single rabbit brush flowers. Weather was sunny and warm (68 F), and only a slight breeze. All butterflies were headed in southern direction.
