Between September 15 through the 19th, 14 larvae emerged. I immediately protected the plants and waited for them to grow. It has been a terrible time this year, 4 larvae just died, 1 was completely normal, regular size and color, 3 small caterpillars pupated and the chrysalis is half size. The remain caterpillars ran out of food October 4 and have been eating organic butternut squash because I can't find any organic milkweed. It has been a week on the squash and they have not given any signs that they will pupate.
