Sightings report image

Number: 6

Hi, I'm a flower gardener. I leave honey vine growing in my garden, as it is a food for the Monarch caterpillars. I'd like to get native milkweed, too. My whole yard is full of flowers and ornamental grasses, except for a small 8 x 10 lawn. So, it provides plenty of food for butterflies. I'm still seeing up to 6 Monarchs at a time in one section of my garden. Wish it was more... but I'm seeing more this Fall, than I saw in Fall 2014.
Hmmm, not sure I know how to answer the number sighted. I saw 6 at a time, but I did not stay outside very long to see how many more came into the yard and I've seen quite a few starting in September. Don't know if that was the "Fall Roost", or part of a migration sighting. How do I find out how to be a more accurate Monarch reporter?
thanks,
Donna
