Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 10/13/2015

Number: 1

Today is a gorgeous fall day with a low of 54 at 6 am and a high of 73 at 3 pm here on our mountain. As we sat on the porch watching the leaves drift with the breeze, I had no sooner mentioned that I thought all the hummingbirds were on their way south, when a female buzzed by us and tapped every red flower on the pineapple sage plant. On my calendar I note hummingbird arrivals when I sight the first one in early April and record again in October as migration nears. This is the latest sighting in my 7 years of living in NC and following their journey.
