Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/22/2015

Number: 5

Horticulture staff of the Virginia Living Museum [Monarch Waystation #299] mentioned to me yesterday that there were 2 monarch caterpillars on the milkweeds growing near the cold frames next to the glass greenhouse. Went out to find them today. Found one being eaten by a stink bug [bug dispatched] and rescued 1 large one nearby. Found 2 in the Children's Learning Garden [a large one on Common milkweed, and a small one on tropical milkweed]. One more larva was found on the common milkweed next to the plastic greenhouse. Total of 4 cats were taken in to rear, 5 reported.
