Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/15/2015

Number: 1

A monarch seen here at my home today... Near Point Pelee National Park. It was not tagged so it was not one of our recent releases. My husband saw it at our potted red hibiscus (which still has about 10 gorgeous blooms & more buds still) which is interesting because it is on our somewhat protected deck & about 2' from the patio window. We still have some purple cone flower blossoms; some purple butterfly bush blossoms; lots of Short's Asters & even a few goldenrod blossoms. The park still has Short's Asters & New England Asters and a teeny bit of goldenrod blossoms. Today's high temp reached 19 c/66 ? but has now dropped to 13/56?. Friday's forecast is high of 13/56, partly sunny first part of day with favourable WNW wind.... Perhaps it will take advantage of the wind direction & cross Lake Erie or wait it out til temps warm again on Monday. I still have 8 due to eclose within the next day or two with planned tagging & release on Monday.
