Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/16/2015

Number: 1

I sit on the porch daily now from about 2:30 to 3:30 or 4 pm because I don't want to miss a hummingbird at the flowers. Everyday I think yesterday was probably the last sighting. BUT today at 3:08 a female flew by me and drank for 2 minutes tapping the little red tube-shaped pineapple sage flowers. I believe this one was a female as the feathers were bright iridescent green, no red collar. The last couple of days, my husband believes the hummingbirds that visited us were juveniles. They were smaller and not as colorful as today's visitor. Temperature this morning at 7 was 45 degrees with a high of 69 by 3 pm. It was sunny again with a slight nip in the breeze at 4 pm. It's predicted to be 37 by 7 am and with only a high of 61 tomorrow. The is our first frost advisory.
