After the other day's sighting of a large praying mantis I found a monarch's right forwing at the bottom of the large butterfly bush in the sunny back yard. Swinging into action I managed to shake the mantis into a small box & take it to another butterfly bush (front yard) that monarchs don't visit in October due to lack of sun. Saw 4 monarchs today in the back bush, which made me feel better about my minimal intervention. Didn't see the mantis again, though it may take a few days to walk back to the first bush. Noticed monarchs don't see interested in the torch tithonia, just the bees do.
