I was working in a butterfly garden in Seabourne Creek Nature Park in Rosenberg, TX yesterday, weeding, planting another 25 plants, mulching, etc. to make ready for our annual Prairie Heritage Day on Nov. 7, 2015. Usually we see more Queens flying than Monarchs, but we found at least 10 Monarchs flying--large, fresh and beautiful. There were also eggs on our Tropical Milkweed and both Monarch and Queen caterpillars here and there. What a joy it was, plus lots of little Skipper Butterflies, Gulf Fritillaries, Little Yellows, etc.
