Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 10/17/2015

Number: 1200

The Monarchs are every were in small clusters...but not on the fence
line facing South that has been the Oct clustering and PG Monarch
welcoming center for the life of the sanctuary,,,,,,over the shed with
its high and low wind cover and canopies with pine and cypress in the
yards next door left and rights formed a perfect micro climate and
large eucalyptus trees to support clusters by the thousands....with a
natural swamp below........well 90% of trees have been cut in the
yards around the fence line left, right, and center...the swamp under
the tree was paved over and kids playground complete with a
trampoline is right next to or under those trees.......so the
monarchs are on the small trees we planted and the boxed.......they
move up and down the big eucalyptus that are over the newly planted
but do not go into the pines in the center of the sanctuary like they
have done in the past this time of the year, maybe its because the city
cleared the under growth below these trees so the wind updraft the
moisture........could have altered the micro climate...all in all its
a slow start so we will just have to....
