I was in my garden, deciding whether or not to remove the tropical milkweed, which has suffered heavily from aphids all summer, and could not believe my eyes when I discovered 3 Monarch caterpillars on these nasty plants. They look to be about 4th or 5th instars, so obviously, the aphids have not kept them from eating. However, I fear it is too late in the season for them to pupate and become butterflies. So sad.
