I drove out to the field where I've collected eggs, caterpillars and milkweed pods all summer - located about 4 miles NE of Monett, MO. I thought I would just check on the remaining pods (they were all still soft and gray-greenish). There among the hundreds of white and aromatic asters was a lonely female Monarch butterfly. What a wonderful and extremely rare find!
