Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/24/2015

Number: 1

I have a small milkweed plant in the front yard. There was a monarch flitting around it. Although the milkweed attracts the butterflies and they have laid eggs in the past, the caterpillars don't go into the chrysalis phase and so there are no butterflies being produced. I believe that the milkweed is one of the tropical varieties that don't support monarchs. Also, there are a lot of crows in the neighborhood and they may be picking off the larvae.
