Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/29/2015

Number: 24

Altus and I did a run on our 10 mile route across the Lavaca Bay
Causeway, peninsula, and back at 11:50 today. In 45 minutes we
counted 24 Monarchs, most on the two sides of the Lavaca Bay
Causeway peninsula. A few were nectaring on False Willow blooms,
first we'd seen on those bushes, but the rest were moving at a
good clip to the SW. Those flying to the SW were at an altitude
of about two to three feet coming along either of the two beach
roads or near the low brush line along Lavaca Bay on the west side.

Wind was ENE at 9 mph, temp 77 dF, mostly clear. Another slight
front came thru and there had been a N wind early morning.
Another front is coming with rain possible Friday night and Saturday.
Our pasture in western DeWitt County got a great deal of rain
