Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 11/02/2015

Number: 1

What a nice surprise! At 2:30 this afternoon, a monarch glided into our garden. It was unseasonably warm, 70 degrees, bright and sunny with a gentle breeze. The only plants left standing in the garden were brussell sprouts and broccoli that had gone to seed so the garden didn't have much color. The monarch found the pale yellow flowers on the broccoli plants and sipped from several stems of flowers. When the monarch noticed my shadow, it moved to a nearby flower garden and landed on pink flowers. The monarch's wings were a darker orange, rusty color and appeared thin. The monarch was not tagged. I think it was a female but I'm not sure.
