Still lots of butterflies at Point Pelee National Park. Today from the West Beach parking lot south to the 1/2 way transit stop I saw the following:
Cabbage White -- 3
Orange Sulphur -- 3
Eastern Comma -- 3
Red Admiral -- 1 (ragged)
Common Buckeye -- 24
Monarch -- 4
With the exceptional weather lately, in theory we could get some all-time record-late dates for Point Pelee. Then again, with all the fieldwork we have done over the years, perhaps we have already reached the "biological limits" as to how late one can potentially find a particular species. Not to say that one should not be looking this week, however!
