Tulips PLANTED
Sightings report image

Date: 11/04/2015

Number: 1

The soil temperature was 52 degrees F and the air temperature was 61 degrees F. The soil was cooler than the air. There was a fall breeze and it was an overcast sky.

We saw birds in the trees and heard them too. We saw a squirrel jumping from a tree to the roof of the school.

All of the trees did not have leaves, except for the evergreen. The dried leaves were all over the ground.

The bulbs were brown and yellowish, and we thought they were shaped like a Hershey Kiss.

We found a peanut shell, old bulbs (even a baby bulb), sunflower seeds, roots (even one that was 28 cm long), worms (even one that was 13 cm long), big and small rocks, and old name sticks ALL in the soil.

We used garden gloves, bulbers, shovels, and rulers to plant our bulbs. We had to use the bulber and the shovel to dig 18 cm deep. We used a ruler to make sure our hole was 18 cm deep. We put our bulbs root side down and point up.

We put a net over the bulbs after we planted so no critters can get in and eat our bulbs (no trick or treating for the critters).
