On a beautiful sunny autumn day with temps in the low 60's and a moderate NW wind I spotted a solitary monarch feeding on the remaining golden rod. There is approximately only 5% of the goldenrod remaining in the immediate area. Evening temps are hovering in the high 40's/low 50's, by the ocean where I spotted her, evening temps are slightly warmer. This is the latest in the season that I have spotted a monarch. She has a long journey ahead of her especially with the cold evening temps. I hope her journey is uneventful with a moderate tail wind.
