12:43pm I was in the backyard working near the honeysuckle vine which is still blooming and I heard that familiar sound. I looked up and sure enough there was a female ruby throat hummingbird feeding on the honeysuckle. I took the nectar feeder down over a week ago and now I'm putting it back up. I read that hummingbirds will leave when it's time and they won't stay because food is available. I hope that is true. I suspect the record setting warmth we had in Minnesota in October had something to do with it and November is also starting out warm. We have not really had a killing frost in the city and I still have some flowers blooming, including lavender, blanket flower, marigolds and a black eyed Susan. The hummingbird was a good size, looked good and was flew off at warp speed. I was trying to get a picture of her but the sun was at the wrong angle and when I moved she took off.
