25 red emperor tulip bulbs were planted by 21 students on November 3, 2015 on a beautiful fall day. We chose a site that would allow the bulbs to be planted in rich soil where they would also receive plenty of sunlight in the spring. They were planted in a flower bed away from foundations and pavement. We used bulb planters to ensure the bulbs were planted 7 inches deep with the pointed side up. We also labeled each plant with a plastic knife which listed students names. We hope the plastic knives will survive the cold Chicago winter temperatures.
