Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/13/2015

Number: 1

Sadly observed one male monarch fresh color/no tatters trying to find nectar on some nandina berries. It also tried the few remaining old coneflower blooms and geranium blooms. There aren't many wildflowers left in the successional fields across the way either. I don't hold out much hope that it will make it to Mexico.
This is monarch #13 for the year...sigh...discouraging...I hope the monarch population is much larger than my sightings indicate.

Weather--winds swirling uneven directions but mostly coming from NW now, gusts to 35mph (heavy, frequent whitecaps on the river), 63 F but temps forecast to dive into the upper 30's tonight. Sunny with a few wispy mare's tail clouds.
