Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 11/30/2015

Number: 1

Adult Female Rufous Hummingbird - Nutmeg arrived at 6:52am. There were no other birds until 7:22am, when a Sharpshin Hawk was chasing a screaming Blue Jay. The Blue Jay got away. When the hawk left, six or more Blue Jays flew in for their favorite treat; unsalted peanuts in the shell. When I went out to see the hawk, I heard Nutmeg for the first time. She was scolding me, as she sat in the Viburnum Tree. The Sharpie really kept the birds and squirrels at bay today. No small or other birds until 7:30am. No squirrels until 7:46am. Nutmeg came sporadically throughout the day. Her last two visits were at 3:59pm and 4:21pm, during a light but cold rain. Temperature was about 36 degrees Fahrenheit.
