Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/17/2015

Number: 1

A perfect Monarch butterfly flew past my car as I arrived at work, 1125 Henry Towne Centre Drive McDonough, McDonough Ga 30253.. As I entered the building, this butterfly followed me into the office, flying behind me, which I was unaware of until a co-worker said, "hey, there is a butterfly behind you!"
The Monarch landed on a doorframe to my supervisor's office.. I said to her, "I'm gonna be late, I have to rescue this Monarch butterfly!"
I climbed on a chair and the butterfly allowed me to gently cup my hands around him, and I released it, with warm wishes, back outside. The weather was warm and we have had a very mild winter here, so I feel confident he could have made the migration successfully by now. That late in the season I am sure he was 5th / last generation. I posted this sighting on my Facebook page also on that date 11/17/15.
I have planted milkweed in my garden for years and always tried to support Monarchs, so this was such a thrill for me! I save the milkweed seeds from each year for the next year as well, so I always have a fresh, organic supply.
I do plan on ordering a rearing kit and seeds, nectar, and tagging kit for the upcoming 2016 season. I love these sweet butterflies and want to do what I can to help them thrive! Thank you so much for your support and all you do!
