There were actually 2 sightings. The 1st was about 2-3 weeks ago when a Monarch was visiting the host plants i have in my front yard. Today, I discovered a large caterpillar. (Only 1 which is very unusual.) I have been growing host plants for years and have never seen a Monarch or caterpillars here in December before. Also of interest, this is the first year where they did not stop at my yard on their way back to Mexico. I always get many Monarchs and caterpillars in Spring and Fall.
