Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 12/31/2015

Number: 1

What looked like a broad tail hummingbird sighting in Houston hit the local fox 26 news during the weather segment time. Unusually warm weather on December 15, 2015 someone sent in a beautiful photo of what looked so familiar that being a sub adult male hummingbird with all the spots on throat with blotches of red. Our last 2015 sighting was seen on Nov. 7th. No Rufous has stayed with us this winter like in the past two winters. All I can say is El Nino is bad all the way around for hummingbirds and humans.
The male Rufous should return soon within 2 weeks.
p.s. Good luck to Nutmeg in Pa.
