Middle Tennessee had very unusually warm weather over our Christmas break. On Christmas eve it was close to 80 degrees F! When we returned to school, it was 22 degrees F this morning. We went to the Test Garden to observe and 3 of our bulbs had emerged!! Their green leafed tips were about 1-2 inches above the soil line. We will follow them and see if they grow in height. Many students were afraid that if the cold weather damaged the young leaves, that the tulip bulbs would not mature. We will see.
