Observed five hummingbirds spotted over garden grounds later morning. Made note that had observed at least two from these sightings that hummingbirds contained green emerald wings and a reddish/wine patch on neck/breast area. Pleasurable sightings!! I observed a darker dull reddish wine colour, more subdued on neck/breast than I would observe for the more ruby fushcia magenta-like brilliant colour that I've observed more traditonally back in Ontario, Canada? Different environment,feeding,or age of birds, I wonder? This species with a less brilliant patch, duller wine patch a local tropical variety? Interested in understanding the differences here. Interesting to say the least. ;-) Welcome observations overall!
We were fortunate to observe two more hummingbirds on the grounds, as well as two more hummingbirds outside our room accommodations above those red fluted blooms on the plant below our balcony. Joyful sightings on our last day on the island resort! Thought to share these observations with Journey North over this past week.
