Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 01/09/2016

Number: 1

Saw my first tattered monarch on February 10th. Seems early? It was probably a male, but I couldn't be sure. Can’t rule out over wintering. There is still nectar about - lantana and more stuff in people’s gardens. We’ve had a most mild winter. I don’t think the Red admirals have ever stopped flying and I see Gulf fritillaries from time to time. It hard teasing this stuff out (1st migrants from locally over wintering butterflies).
