Monarchs are overwintering at the Pollinator Berm at Sparrow Field on Skidaway Island near Savannah, Georgia. The site is serving as a control in a Monarch Health study through the University of Georgia. We are not cutting back A. Curassavica at this site to allow comparison with the incidence of OE at a site where milkweed was cut back in November. We are participating in the Monarch Larvae Monitoring Project (University of Minnesota), making weekly counts of eggs and larvae. On this same date we counted 46 eggs and a total of 103 larvae across all 5 instar stages on 17 tropical milkweed plants.
