Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/11/2016

Number: 2000

There has been a spectacular invasion of robins in Kerrville this week. They are feasting on insects and worms brought out by recent rains, highly unusual amounts this year. Each evening around 5:15 to 6:00 pm, large flocks converge from all directions into a valley by Rimrock road. They seem to be spreading mountain cedar berries all over town, so it seems they are feasting on them in the valley. Not the best situation, as we have been trying to eradicate the pesky mountain cedar, due to the many people who are allergic to the pollen these trees pump out every winter. On my drive home each night this week, I have seen thousands of birds coming in for the night.

Editor's Note: We are estimating "thousands" as 2,000.
