Staff observer at the Virginia Living Museum reports that the first Journey North tulips planted in the museum's Children's Learning Garden by museum staff were seen emerged today. The Children's Learning Garden began with Journey North tulips planted in fall 1998. Our average date of emergence from the first 16 years of data is 2/9, so this year the tulips emerged significantly earlier than average. This tied with year 2005 for earliest date of emergence. N.B. Already two inches tall at observation date.
