Shortly after 7am, backing out of the driveway we saw a robin on the ground fly up into the maple tree. Then 300 feet later I heard a robin singing the true song out my window. About another 800 feet and 15 minutes later heard another singing the true song

I think they might be just tuning up.

Editor's note: Snippets of True Song maybe heard as hormone levels rise,....which is very common among males in early spring.
