On 2/4 and 2/5, I noticed a flock of 15-20 robins on the grounds of the Minnesota History Center in downtown St. Paul at about 9am. I heard a bit of robin song, which caught my attention, and I saw that they were flying back and forth between a stand of river birches to a grouping of eight crabapple trees, where they were eating fruit. They were also taking cover in a group of pines between visits to the fruit trees. I saw them again at lunch and later in the afternoon...they could have been feeding all day there. The temperature was about 25 degrees, sunny, with about 6 inches of snow cover. I don't believe these robins had been in this location all winter, as I would have noticed them long before February!
